General Questions/New to Joomla! 5.x • Re: MySql 8.0.13

I didn't know how difficult it was to find a host with this version available, even on dedicated servers. I bought an update for a component that I use in my systems, I made all the adjustments on Locahost using Wampserver and everything seemed fine.

When I tried to install it on an Online server, I had a tragic surprise when I found out that none of them supported MySQL 8.0.13 (which is the minimum required). I was really surprised to learn this, since the most widely used version was discontinued years ago. I searched for hours and hours and I couldn't find ANY host with this version available, at least not here in Brazil.

The most I found was MySQL 8, which probably won't work, or will it? I was really frustrated to learn this. I work hard to be able to buy my extensions and keep everything updated. It was an unprecedented blow to me. Maybe it was a lack of planning in not researching all this beforehand, but who can blame me?

A country the size of Brazil, with thousands of hosting companies, none of them support the most up-to-date MySQL, not even on dedicated servers. Probably only on PRO servers that cost much more per month than I can collect from my clients in the same period. I was even more frustrated to see that some people can run Joomla 5 on MySQL 5.7 without any problems (at least for now) using some "shortcuts".

So I ask, why take such a big leap and limit the user to having to hire very expensive plans simply to use a CMS? Now I understand why some companies that create extensions for Joomla, such as JoomlaWorks ( K2 ), have abandoned Joomla.

I am afraid of the future, I have been using Joomla for over 10 years, I have many clients who depend on my services, and now I am unable to continue because of this.
